Dr Bob

Dr Bob (Amanda Kear) trained as a zoologist yet somehow ended up working in telly for 23 years, until she dug her escape tunnel and found herself in the civil service. She’s been writing fanfic since she was knee high to a gronk. She has stories in two of Storm Constantine’s Wraeththu Mythos anthologies, in Rosie Oliver’s SFerics anthology and writes the Squaddies military SF RPG scenarios (DriveThru RPG).

When not doing committee stuff, writing or gaming she attempts to create Bristol’s first black hole, by cramming vast quantities of comics, books, games and miniatures into her flat until it threatens to implode.

    Hi Dr.Bob!

I just tried to pay for membership for the 2017 con via Paypal and the line item shows as 2016. Should I hold off for now or do I not need to worry?
    Thanks
    Adrian

    Hi Dr. Bob,

I would like to take up a membership by cheque, is there an address to submit please.

Also I would like to enquire about a table.

I have been working on a triple trilogy YA fantasy series for many decades, although I am still looking to print the first book, I do have a strong film commitment on all nine books.

For my table I am looking to raffle a signed Giclee print of a scene at ‘Padlight’ university in the Pleiades. The raffle is to promote the woodlands charity as elementals adore woodlands, and I can talk about this huge new world in preparation to what is coming, and the first book. There is a 20″ circular woodland display so half a table would suffice, or I have a suitable card table.

Finally there is mentioned the possibility of a grant available for the society for which I would like to apply.

Awaiting the favour of your reply,

    Diane Derrick.

    Hi Diane
The address for cheques is on our membership page, along with the badge info to include: membership rates
However, hang fire on paying until you have talked to Mark (who is our dealer liaison) if you want a table. If there is still space in the dealers’ room, Mark will let you know the rate, which will include membership. His address is dealers@ and then bristolcon.org
The Bristolcon Foundation looks after grants. If you email chair@ (and then bristolcon.org) with details, they’ll be passed to the relevant people. Cheers, Dr Bob

Hi Dr Bob. hope to attend Bristol Con but uncertain on account of the uncertainty of date of birth of latest family member! So may need to buy membership on door. Please advise if there is a risk of Bristol Con being sold out by October 27 Oct.
    Many thanks
    David

    Hi David
No problems. We usually have about 30 people who pay on the day, rather than pre-book. We’d only have to turn people away if about quadruple that number of ‘walk-ins’ turned up and we were pushing the max allowed by the fire regulations. Best wishes, Dr Bob
