Programme in the Festival

BristolCon has been directly involved in organizing a number of events for the Bristol Festival of Literature. As these are Festival events you need to buy tickets separately, but some of our events will be free. To book for events go to the Festival website. Some of their events feature Jasper Fforde and GP Taylor.

Thursday 20th October

6-7pm: Write Spectacular!

Ever planned a story asking: What If? then you are writing speculative fiction. Fantasy and Sci-Fi shift the rules of realism, to push the question of what might be. Come and get great advice on style and structure from a highly impressive panel that includes at least four Hugo Awards.

Friday 21st October

Forbidden Planet Book Signings

Our local Forbidden Planet is organize soming signings at the store on Friday. At Noon they will have Juliet McKenna, Justina Robson, Paul Cornell and Gareth Powell. Then at 14:30 there will be a separate event with Richard Morgan.

6-7pm: Should David Cameron read more sci-fi?

Since Orwell, Huxley and HG Wells, many of today’s finest sci fi writers are exploring how we run our societies. Our panel includes some of the most fiery names writing today. Politics and fiction in a potent mix
