About Diane Duane

Diane Duane has been a science fiction and fantasy writer for more than four and a half decades. Her best known works include her long-running (since 1983) Young Wizards series,—its tenth novel, Games Wizards Play, having been published in 2016—and the nine bestselling Star Trek novels for which, among many other works, she was awarded the Grand Master / lifetime achievement award of the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. At last reckoning she was found to have written for Star Trek in more media than anyone else alive. (It was entirely accidental, honest...)

Her TV and film writing has included characters ranging from Jean-Luc Picard to Batman and from Siegfried the Volsung to Scooby-Doo. (She and Scrappy-Doo are contemporaries in the film world, having arrived on the scene at the same time.) Her most recently aired screen work is the event-television two-nighter The Lost Future, in which she got to run Sean Bean around a post-apocalyptic landscape in tight leathers.

Her present workload includes a new historical novel, Games, involving the ancient Roman entertainment industry, in collaboration with her husband Peter Morwood; the eleventh Young Wizards novel, its title yet to be announced; and the most recent of five interstitial novellas and novels in the Middle Kingdoms sequence, preparing the ground for the completion of the final book in the main sequence of her LGBTQ-centered Middle Kingdoms fantasy series,The Door Into Starlight.

In her spare time Diane gardens, cooks, hangs out on Tumblr, and studies astronomy, food history, and European rail schedules.
