2013: Fifth annual SF and Fantasy convention in Bristol

Bristol 09/09/2013

Bristol’s successful science fiction and fantasy literature event, BristolCon, celebrates its 5th year on October 26th with another exciting line-up of attractions at the DoubleTree Hotel (formerly the Ramada).

Headlining this year’s event is children’s and YA author Philip Reeve, author of Mortal Engines and the Larklight series. He is joined by writer and publisher Storm Constantine, author of the Wraeththu novels, and owner of Immanion Press. The Guest of Honour line-up is completed by Bristol-born comic-book artist, Mark Buckingham, who has worked for both Marvel and DC, including Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed Death miniseries, and is the lead artist on the internationally acclaimed Fables series.

In addition many other well-known writers and artists will be in attendance. These include Paul Cornell, Juliet E. McKenna, Jonathan L. Howard, Anne Lyle, Gareth L. Powell, Emma Newman, Ian Whates, Stephanie Saulter and multi-Hugo Award-winning artist, Jim Burns.

BristolCon will feature discussion panels on a variety of topics, merchandise stalls, an art show, and opportunities to meet like-minded people and even rub shoulders with your favourite writers. In the evening there will be entertainments including music from double-bass player and stand-up comedian Grant Sharkey.

Tickets can be bought in advance for £20 from the convention website at or from BristolCon Fringe events (check local listings). Tickets on the door will be priced at £25.
