BRISTOL 01/05/2012 – For the fourth year running, Bristol will play host to the south-west’s premier science fiction and fantasy convention, the aptly-named ‘BristolCon’. This one-day event, which takes place on Saturday 20 October at the Ramada Bristol City Hotel, gives fans the chance to attend discussion panels on a variety of genre-related topics, browse the merchandise stalls, and rub shoulders with well-known writers and artists. Our Guests of Honour this year will be writers Gareth L Powell and John Meaney and the
artist Anne Sudworth. Also attending will be BristolCon’s first international guest writer, Aliette de Bodard, all the way from Paris.

Other writers at the convention include Alastair Reynolds, Justina Robson, Stephanie Burgis, Emma Newman and Kim Lakin-Smith, and artists Andy Bigwood, Jim Burns and Simon Breeze.

Local writer and co-founder of BristolCon Colin Harvey, who sadly passed away last year, will be remembered as the event’s Ghost of Honour.

Books, comics and merchandise will be available in the dealers’ room and authors will be available for book signings. There will also be a pub quiz and live music in the evening.

Tickets can be purchased at a special advance rate of £15 from the convention website at until 31 May. After this date pre-sale prices rise to £20, and tickets on the door will priced at £25.
