Committee Biographies
Joanne Hall – Jo is a fantasy writer, born in Southampton, who came to Bristol by chance and never left. She is happiest when entirely surrounded by books. She ended up chairing BristolCon when her friend Colin plied her with alcohol and said “Wouldn’t it be a great idea if….?” Every September she throws her hands up and cries “Never again!”, but she always ends up having too much fun (and booze) at BristolCon and is persuaded to carry on.
MEG – MEG is an inveterate convention organiser and attendee since her first involvement with Discworld conventions in 1998. She and husband Tim have contributed to hundreds of events between them, including Eastercon, Redemption, Worldcon & SMOFcon – mostly in the UK. Discovering that there would be a SF&F convention In Her Home Town, MEG was eager to volunteer for organising BristolCon’s programme of events and, after three successful conventions so far, is thrilled to be asked to do so again this year.
When not looking after programme, guests or attendees, MEG can usually be found in the bar. White wine for preference. Cheers!
Heather Ashley – Heather is a Bristol based psychology student and activity therapist. She has been helping out at BristolCon for the past three years, having been roped in by her friends! She is an enthusiastic consumer of speculative fiction, and her interest has been fueled by going to BristolCon and being introduced to many more authors, ideas, and a lot of people with huge imaginations!
Claire Carter – Claire is a Bristol based artist, writer, gamer, and lover of all things fantasy and sci-fi, so when the opportunity to join the committee for BristolCon came up she grabbed it with both hands. It has been a joy and a challenge and she is looking forward to doing it again next year.
Dolly Garland – Dolly Garland is a Bristol based fantasy writer, and a book-o-holic. She has been attending BristolCon for past two years, and has recently joined the committee. She is an obsessive journal keeper and the founder of Kaizen Journaling.

Your website has one very big flaw (one which it shares with a number of convention websites) — the date of the thing! Or rather the lack of information about that date, especially if you have graphics turned off (or are using text-to-speech or a non-graphics browser). The only place I can find the date at all is in the graphic of that banner (and not in the ALT text which simply says the useless “BristolCon header image”).

Hey there dying to find out more -when is the programme going live?
5 Joanne Hall // Sep 28, 2010 at 9:21 am
Hi Ruth!
Barring any disasters, we should have some really comprehensive programme information for you next weekend. I can tell you we’re having about 6-8 panels, readings from guest authors, a Qand A with Joe Abercrombie, one of our Guests of Honour, a Filk set from singer/songwriter Talis Kimberly, and a quiz. What order these things will be in is still the subject of some wrangling, but watch this space and I promise we’ll have news for you very soon!

Hi Jo…
I haven’t heard about what panels I am doing, now I have seen a message from Andy that there was something on this site to fill in. But I cannot find it…warning…I am a complete techno-eeejit and therefore could have missed it entirely.
With time and money so tight, I haven’t booked anything until I know I will be gainfully employed at the convention…..could you let me know what is happening?
Warmest regards
Raven

Hi Raven, how are you?
Have you bought your membership? Aside from the Guests of Honour, we are employing the same policy as FantasyCon, and only drawing panelists from paid-up members of the con, to make it fair to everyone.
If you haven’t bought your membership, the link is on the left hand menu at the top of the page.
However, it’s very late in the day and Meg is already putting together the panels. I think all the panelist slots (and the reserves) may already be taken. If you sign up I can put you on the reserve -reserve list in case of an outbreak of Bubonic con-lurgy….
I hope you’ll consider coming even if we can’t give you a panel slot, it would be lovely to see you!
Best Wishes,
Jo
